Dear St. George School Community,
Due to the impending storm, school will be closed tomorrow, Monday, February 23, 2026.
Just before break, our remote learning plan to allow students to complete work from home on future snow days was officially approved by our School Board. While we are excited to have this option moving forward, we are not able to begin it tomorrow. We need time to clearly communicate expectations with families, allow teachers to prepare and distribute materials, and ensure we have a plan in place to address meals for students who rely on school food services.
Using work-from-home days in the future will help us avoid adding extra school days at the end of June. Our hope is to keep the last day of school as planned so families and staff can keep their summer plans and work schedules.
Please check your email for a letter with more detailed information. Feel free to reach out with any questions. We will let you know as soon as we are ready to begin implementing the remote snow day plan and will send out information about food sign-up at that time.
Hopefully there will be no more snow days—but lately Mother Nature hasn’t been listening to me!
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Respectfully,
Christina Wotton
Superintendent

The Town Office, Herring Gut, St. George Fire & EMS, Grace Innovation Center, Blue Lobster Real Estate and many classrooms joined in the festivities to make the Gingerbread Crew a really magical and exciting experience for our youngest learners. Each day the classrooms received letters from community organizations to share that they had been visited by the Gingerbread CREW! Our classroom teachers also joined in the fun taking turns writing letters with their classes.
On December 23rd children, families and volunteers lined the school sidewalk singing, ringing magical bells and hoping to call the gingerbread men home. ALL OF A SUDDEN - Sirens rang out, lights flashed and a procession of St. George Fire & EMS arrived at the school with the Gingerbread CREW!! The SHOCK and excitement on children's faces was priceless! Thank you to our community for making memories for our children that are sure to last a lifetime!
A special thank you to the St. George Fire & EMS who went above and beyond to make the return of the Gingerbread CREW so special!

We are sending a HUGE thank you out to all of those who have supported our new 3K program this school year and for those of you who have continued to support our PreK classroom.
St. George School has 52 3-5 year olds enrolled this year. Due to the time individuals and organizations have committed to supporting our classrooms, children are receiving high quality early learning daily. Without our 3K and PreK many children would not have access to an early learning environment due to the lack of childcare in our area.
As we continue to develop our programming we appreciate any support that you may be able to give. Your contribution will support summer learning and whole family activities, classroom libraries and literacy, home libraries, basic needs, enrichment opportunities such as music, art and science, and/or expansion of our community nature playground.
How do you donate?

Due to expected high winds and the potential for power outages, school will dismiss at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, December 19th.

Thank you, and please travel safely.
Good morning! Due to inclement weather, St. George School will be closed today, December 2, 2025.
This was a tough call to make, but with safety as our top priority for both students and staff, we felt it was the right choice.
I’ve heard that Mr. Felton used to make snow days a little more interesting, so I’m keeping that spirit alive. If students want to share the fun, they’re invited to email me (c.wotton@stgeorgemsu.org) a picture or a short video (one minute or less) showing something they’re doing on their snow day. From the entries I receive, I’ll select one student to help me with the next snow-day call!
Be creative, have fun, and stay safe!
Respectfully,
Christina M. Wotton
Superintendent

There were bounce houses, games, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin painting and carving, face painting and competitive activities. Of special interest were displays by Herring Gut, The St. George Fire Department, a logging demonstration, and the Atwood’s lobster car.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a festival without delicious food. There were apples to dip in caramel and chocolate and top with a variety of choices, fresh popcorn, a cider and coffee table, homemade s’mores, and a crockpot buffet with a variety of desserts.
People enjoyed the day visiting with friends and enjoying the beautiful weather. We want to express our appreciation to the following business that made the day possible:
Hannaford Grocery
Shaw’s
Schoolhouse Farms
Home Depot
Bull Run Farm
Spears Farm
Hoppes Tree Service
The First
The Black Harpoon
Herring Gut
Atwood’s Lobster
With Thanks,
Jennifer Garrett

Here is a more detailed schedule for the Fall Festival on Saturday October 18th!

In 2016, the fund was established to honor Carolyn Kanicki who had been the band instructor at the St. George School for over 25 years. The fund is dedicated to repair, maintain and replace instruments, so that every child has the opportunity to participate in band.
Did you know that the St. George School owns 80 instruments? These instruments need regular cleaning, maintenance and occasional repairs. We are the only school in the midcoast area that provides instrumental education at $0 cost to families.
Donations can be made by bringing or sending a check, payable to "St. George School" with "Carolyn Kanicki Fund" written in the memo line to: St. George School, P.O. Box 153, Tenants Harbor, ME 04860.
Thank you for supporting our students and band program!
