Economic Status Form

We are excited to welcome students back to school on Tuesday, September 3! As you probably know, three years ago, the State of Maine enacted a law that provides free school meals for all students. This program provides all Maine children with access to free, healthy school meals on a daily basis.

However, we need your help. Please take the time to complete the online Economic Status Form (https://bit.ly/STG-EconomicStatus24-25).

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funding for our school depends on economic status data provided by parents. For example, in the 2023-24 school year, we lost $250,000 in state subsidy because the percentage of our students qualifying as economically disadvantaged was below the state average; the state average was 39% while St. George School was at 37%, meaning we missed $250,000 in subsidy by about 5 students.

However, because so many people submitted forms last year and our percentage exceeded the state average, we received an additional $220,000 in state subsidy for this year’s budget (2024-25)!

By completing this simple form, you help ensure that we remain eligible for state and federal funds that benefit our school community!
