Dear CHRHS Families,
We are again facing a severe bus driver shortage. We are actively searching for and recruiting new drivers (a job posting can be found here). To reduce the impact on families while we search for a new driver, we've hired Luce Transportation to cover the afternoon CHRHS bus run. However, even with Luce's help, we still need to make the following change to the CHRHS morning bus run beginning next week on Monday, 10/21:
Morning CHRHS Run: NO bus stop in Port Clyde
The CHRHS bus will leave 47 Main St. at 7:55 a.m. and Wiley's Corner at 8:10 a.m.
The only way to make the morning bus runs work is to have a bus go directly to 47 Main St. after dropping off PreK-8 students at the school. There isn't time for the bus to drive down to Port Clyde and still get to Camden on time.
Luce can only cover the afternoon bus runs through December. If we don't find a solution by then, then there could be substantial disruptions for high school and PreK-8 afternoon runs resulting in students getting home much later than usual.
I'm sincerely sorry for the difficulty this causes students and families. The only long-term solution is to find more people who are willing drive our buses. If someone is interested but doesn't have their bus license, we'll help train them!
If you or anyone you know might be interested in becoming a bus driver - even a substitute bus driver! - please contact Transportation Director Randy Elwell (r.elwell@stgeorgemsu.org; 542.6349), share our job postings, and encourage people to apply!
Thank you!
Mike
