Attention St. George School community! We are proud to announce that an after-school program will be starting on the first day of school, September 3rd.

This program will be offered to students in grades K-5 and will run from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. five days a week. The cost to attend full time will be $50 per week (i.e., $10 per day for full-time students). A $50 deposit is required to hold a space for your child. There will also be an option to purchase a punch card for children to attend part time; the punch card will cost $120 and provides 10 days of after school care (i.e, $12 per visit for part-time students).  Tuition assistance will be available.

The After School Programming Working Group – composed of parents; community members; staff from Blueberry Cove Camp, Jackson Memorial Library, and the school; and representatives from the School Board – have been working for over two years to start an affordable, sustainable after school program that provides high quality, reliable childcare for parents. This endeavor has been made possible through a partnership between St. George School and The University of Maine Cooperative Extension at Blueberry Cove, a grant from the School Fund at the St. George Community Development Corporation, and support from an Island Institute Fellow. The after-school program will be operated by Blueberry Cove Camp and based at St. George School and provide the following opportunities to students and their families:

  • Affordable, high-quality, reliable childcare for parents of K-5 students,

  • Healthy snacks for students after school,

  • Physical activity and enrichment opportunities, and

  • Support for students’ academic, social, and emotional learning needs.

Online and paper registration forms for the after-school program will be available in August with more detailed information about the program.

If you have any questions, please contact Ryan LeShane, Blueberry Cove Camp Director, at ryan.leshane@maine.edu or 207.491.6537.  You can also contact Mike Felton, St. George MSU Superintendent, at m.felton@stgeorgemsu.org or 207.372.6312.  You can sign up for the after school email group by going to https://forms.gle/zRMowjRHh6QFKcDb6.
