Title IX

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, is a Federal civil rights law. Title IX, which many people are aware of because of its early emphasis on safeguarding equity in sports, also prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in any and all education programs and activities. Title IX also importantly covers prevention of, and response to, incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

The St. George MSU School Board adopted policy ACAA-R Student Discrimination and Harassment Complaint Procedure in order to provide prompt and equitable resolution of reports and complaints of unlawful discrimination and harassment of students, including sexual harassment, as described in policies AC – Nondiscrimination/Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action and ACAA – Harassment and Sexual Harassment of Students.  Information about Title IX training can be found here.

Any individual who is unsure about whether unlawful discrimination or harassment has occurred and/or or which complaint procedure applies is encouraged to contact the Affirmative Action Officer/Title IX Coordinator.
