We are happy to announce the arrival of Nell Houde, our new Educator in Residence from The Leadership School at Kieve. For 10 weeks this winter, Nell will be working with St. George students during their CREW times and will continue and expand the Forest School after-school initiative. Her primary focus will be with grades 4-8, but she hopes to interact with every student in some way during her time here at St. George. Having finished her first season at Kieve this fall, she was able to meet the St. George 8th graders for a week in October.
Prior to her time at Kieve, Nell worked as an Island Fellow on Peaks Island, where she ran the Afterschool Academy at the K-5 school and learned a lot about the strength of coastal communities in Maine. Nell grew up in a small town on the border of Vermont and New Hampshire. She came to Maine to attend Bates College, where she studied Environmental Studies and Education. Nell is extremely excited to join the St. George community this winter and continue her work with this group of extraordinary students and teachers.
