2020 Knox County Teacher of the Year

At a virtual celebration today hosted by state officials, our very own Alison Babb-Brott was officially recognized as the 2020 Knox County Teacher of the Year!  This is a tremendous achievement for an educator, marked by countless hours of hard work and an unyielding passion for teaching.

Those of you who have had the opportunity to see Alison in action will not be surprised by this recognition.  Each and every day she cultivates joy and connection for her students while also holding them to high academic standards.  For those students needing a little extra help, she works tirelessly to meet their individual needs.

The work associated with this process has already been demanding with numerous forms, essays, interviews, and more, but the road does not end here.  Alison and the other 15 County Teachers of the Year will be connecting with each other, sharing teaching ideas and proceeding forward as a group to determine who will be designated as the Maine Teacher of the Year.

As the selection committee stated, selecting a County Teacher of the Year is meant to celebrate the thousands of outstanding professional educators in Maine schools, not to single out any individual as the best teacher in Maine.  Teachers at St. George have been leading the way in education for quite some time and Alison's achievement is a reflection of that culture.  This award therefore is something that the entire staff at the school as well as the entire St. George community can take pride in.

Thank you to the St. George community for your continued support of our students, staff, and school.  In these uncertain times, together, we are Dragon strong!

Congratulations, Alison!
